Hi Dave,
You will need a copy of the Merant ODBC software (available from Epicor) to
allow connection to the Progress database. I have written a Microsoft
Access routine that extracts the shipment information from the Vantage
"OrderHed, OrderDtl, SerialNo, ShipTo, ShipHead, and ShipDtl tables (I also
hold a translation table that takes the Vantage ShipViaCode and
table-look-up converts it to a valid UPS Service Type) and creates a single
flat file that is directly linked into the UPS Worldship program. The UPS
Worldship program does not handle batch processing as well as it should so
your shipping personnel will still need to process each shipment. The good
news is that all of your package and address information can reside within
Vantage. The flat file will preload all the address and package details
into UPS Worldship so your shipping personnel just move the shipment from
"Pending" to "Ready for Pickup".
Let me know if you would like a copy.
Dale

Subject: Re: [Vantage] Vantage to UPS Worldship ODBC
How were you able to get Vantage to be able to pass data into UPS's
Worldship? I would be very interested in finding out more on this.
I already have one application that passes shipment information from
Vantage
into UPS's Worldship product. The application uses Access to extract the
shipment information from Vantage and then put the information in a form
compatible to UPS. The loss of ODBC connectivity to the shipment tables
could cause us to not be able to ship.
