Vantage Bill of Lading for Consolidated Shipments

Hello, We are in the same boat. We had to have this information on the BOL
because our customers wanted it. You have a little more info then we do (we
have Part #,PO, Description, cartons, weight) Anyway I had to Go to Custom
Programming for them to make a custom BOL for us. BE WARNED we paid
$2,500.00 for it (thats right no typo) Unless your an expert at crystal
reports and progress your going to have to have them make you one.

I'm confused on the amount of data required for your BOL. The BOL is a
contract between you and the freight carrier. It needs to have an FOB
destination for transfer of the TITLE of goods. Either Shipping POINT or
Destination. The classification of the shipments needs to be determined such
as CLASS 50 in my case for STEEL. This is for insurance reasons. After that
its only weight and an object count. 1000 lbs, 2 skids.

PO's, part numbers, pieces per carton all the other stuff is Packing Slip
Information for your shipping destination.

Hi everyone,
We're running Vantage 3.00.628. Our largest customers require one bill
of lading per truckload shipped. The bill of lading must contain the
following information for each part shipped: quantity shipped, number of
cartons, pieces per carton, PO number, PO line, PO release, part
description, and customer part description. We ship up to ten different
parts, with different PO numbers, on each truckload. I've tried report
builder and had no success. I've also tried Crystal version 7 and had
no success. Customer support hasn't been very helpful-they suggest
customer programming (in each Vantage version, of course!) Right now we
write the bill of lading on preprinted forms using the packing slip
info. There's got to be a better way. Has anyone written a report to
overcome this problem? Anyone have a workaround?
Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Debbie Raiona

Debbie,
We are exactly in the same situation and with the same needs,
I was hopping 4.0 will allow to enter multiple shipments in one
BOL but it came the same way. I am thinking to get
outside consulting help.

Well at least we know that we are not alone with this problem . It
appears that many others have the same problem, maybe it will be taken
care of on the Cairo Update .

Hello,

Isn't a packing slip included with the BOL that could contain all this
information? We consolidate multiple packing slips to a BOL everyday but
none of our customers require that the information appear on the BOL. We
are sure the packing slips for that shipment are included with the LTL
packet(BOL and packing slips) with the information as the customers request
on the packing slip.

I guess I would work with the customer to maybe reach a compromise. As long
as they get the information who cares whether it is on the BOL or Pack.
Some picky receiving people out there want everything their way. ha ha. It
would sure be nice if every could allow for some uniformity. Come'on all
you really need for receiving is the PO #, PO Line #, and a Qty received.
(Maybe customer Pack slip number for tracking.) From that they know what
the part# is, the description, etc. Why do they need your Part #, it
doesn't do them any good. blah, blah! I just get tired of every company
dictating what they want the supplier to do and everyone is different. It
creates a lot of work and headaches. Sorry.

My two cents..

I will see if a custom report is possible and get back to ya!!

Also if you would see my suggestion for V6.0 I have recommended that they
merge BOL to shipping entry where it would be easier to include this type of
information on the BOL since you would have all shipping information in one
table. and have less duplication of entry.
