Thank you for the correction...as I now remember it was an issue with an
early patch of 6.0 that had the security problem. They fixed it in a patch
of 6.0 and if you upgraded to that patch before upgrading your DB there was
no problem.

We don't have AMM, so I cannot help you with issue #2. However, regarding
issue #1, I can tell you with certainty that it is NOT a permission issue.
We had the same problem here in December 2003 and we were not able to
check-in parts either, even when logged in as security manager. The issue
is simply that you chose to upgrade; if you had not done that, you would not
have the problem! ;-) Seriously, Development was supposedly writing SCRs
to resolve this issue (see PROBLEM DESCRIPTION below). You already have the
workaround, but if you would like more information, go to the AnswerBook in
Epicor's ePortal and search for the following documents: 2827MPS, 3950MPS
and 4040MPS.
Anyone planning to move from pre-6.0 to 6.x would be well advised to include
the suggestions in 3950MPS in the upgrade plan.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Check in and Check out on ECO groups is greyed out?
User was running 5.20 and created ECO groups. When they updated to 6.00
those groups have come over with the check in box greyed out. How can they
now check in parts? The customer does not want to enter the ECO group Task
Set or the Work Flow Group, and according to the 6.00 Configuration should
not have to Set up a Task Set or Work Flow Group.
Steps to duplicate:
1. Login Manager/Manager
2. Click on Advance Bill of Materials
3. Click on General Operations
4. Click on Engineering Workbench
5. Group > Select
6. Two groups will appear
Customer, and Standard
7. Because there are open groups this creates a problem when upgrading to
Vantage 6.00
Now go to 6.00 to see the problem DB 60\mfg02 6120/tcp
1. Inventory Management > Master File Maint. > Part
2. Select a Manf Part. 99-99-850
3. Click on Eng. workbench
4. Click on Revision > check the box for Approved
5. Go back to Revision > cannot check in the part
Problem: because there are open groups in 5.2 and the part 99-99-850 is
checked out in group "Standard" user cannot check the part in

When the CheckInAllowed was added to the ECOGroup table, for the 6.00.100
database schema, its initial value was "no", as reflected in the 6.00.100
delta file (db/600-100.df). By the 6.00.500 database, the initial value had
changed to "yes," but the 6.00.500 delta (db/600-500.df) did not show this
change. Is the best solution to edit the 6.00.100 delta to set the initial
value at "yes", and then have a conversion program to set the field to "yes"
if an ECO group has no task set? If so, should I write two SCRs, one for
the delta and one for a conversion, or can the same person take care of both
items? A related issue is that Progress did not seem to notice that the
initial value had changed when it created the 600-500.df file.
Work around:
The workaround is to update the ECO Group, change anything, and press OK.
This will fire the ECOGroup "write" code, which resets the CheckInAllowed
field.

We ran into some of the same issues you have when we went live last fall.
After a couple of days things should settle in, no reoccurring hiccups. One
thing to watch is how much you add to the change logs (Business Activity
Manager), if you add every field, it will make your database grow at 2 to 3
times its normal rate.

I did set up a fake warehouse and go going that way around the
AMM bit. I need to figure out how to make the fake WH to be default
and then I'm good to go.
On the Eng Workbench, they had me change the name of the work
group, and then I could check it in.. Go figure. I hope I don't have
to change work group names daily. I will advise the group on what I
find....

security and set the specific users with the ability to check in parts. I
have found in a couple of conversions that the security for this feature is
not copied from anywhere. It is brought in blank. If it's not that
specifically, that will get you in the right area.
Issue 2. Sounds like you
installed AMM module with the upgrade. You will need to either invent a
warehouse or use one of your existing to handle these WIP locations. There
is quite a bit to setting up AMM, but as I bet you figured out, this one is
fairly easy to work around. You can also set defaults in the Company config

2. In "Receipts from MFG" and receiving to inventory; we are being prompted

from there, then how to the part get into the "Final Inspection" warehouse
electronically.
I appreciate any help and insight any of you may have.
