Production dates - v - Delivery Dates

sophie, although we ship most jobs directly to the customer, this situation
is not uncommon for us either. we usually build the job to stock and enter
the sales order "pull from stock"- then the sales person monitors the
customer's ship date. per our standard contract, we have the right to charge
stocking fees after 30 days.

Karen,

We ship 90% of our orders off the job. When we have a customer that are not ready for delivery we mark the jobs as complete but not closed, this way it shows on our W.I.P. report each week at the bottom of the report under completed jobs. When the customer is ready
we then ship and invoice for the parts and close the job at that point. I hope this helps.

Sophie,

In our business (custom commercial skylights) we often have customers that
require us to have a job on site, by a specific date. Contractually, these
customers have the right to liquidated damages (i.e. daily payments of
$500-$1000 US for every day late), which is very common in the construction
industry. So when we hit that date, but the customer isn't ready (if they
refuse to allow us to ship), we start billing them for storage charges,
based on the price of the job. In our case, it's common for a typical
skylight to require a whole truck to ship, so orders laying about tend to
use up our available space pretty quickly.

We are having problems with Customers who expect us to have Parts in
stock for them by a certain date but will not necessarily accept
delivery on this date.

Does anybody else suffer from this? If so how are you coping with it in
Vantage,
At the moment we are caught between whether to satisfy Production
Suggestions on the Time Phased report or delivery Dates on the Scheduled
shipments Report.

Hope someone can advise me.
Thanks
Sophie
