Subject: [Vantage] Other 8.0?

I'd liked to see if there are, and how many, others running 8.0 yet...
I'm getting kind of uneasy about being this far out on the 'bleeding
edge'... they of couse did not try to sell us an older version.

Thanks,

Matt

I think Epicor only has 3 customers that are "live" on Vantage v8 (meaning
using it to run their daily operations). However, there are many customers
like you and I that are new to Vantage and just starting v8 implementations.
It is my understanding that existing customers that request v8 from their
CAM's will receive upgrade kits soon.

I tested entering the wrong UserID and/or password with v8.00.617 and didn't
have this problem.

This still exists in the current patch level v8.00.704. Vantage v8 is a
major re-write with a new architecture, new interface and new features. You
can expect to see minor problems like this and even some more serious ones
throughout the software for some time to come. Right now, Epicor is
releasing patches almost on a weekly basis. When you find a problem you
should call support to let them know. They will verify the issue and pass
it on to development if it's truly a bug. You'll probably never get a
follow-up after that, but development will add it to their list and get to
it as their resources and the issues priority dictate.

That depends on your situation. If you need to go live ASAP, then you might
not want to go with v8. If you are not planning to go live for say 6
months, then I definitely think v8 is the right choice, so hang in there.

That can't be answered without knowing your requirements from an ERP
package. As a generic answer though, most Vantage users I've talked to (25+
companies) are happy with Vantage and Epicor. Personally, in the 3 months
that we've been a customer, I've found the Vantage support and educational
teams to be excellent. I haven't dealt with the CAM's or consulting team
much so I don't have any feedback on them. We do find it disappointing that
v8 is behind schedule and still has issues. However, we requested a v8
implementation knowing it was a new product and that we would run into
delays and glitches as a result.

We briefly looked at going with v6 first then upgrading in a year or so to
v8 (because no v8 training was available and the v8 performance was so
poor). However, we did not want to go through 2 implementations and Epicor
assured us that training would be available within 30 days (which it is now)
and that performance was being worked on (which has improved greatly with
recent patches and thus gone from a show stopper to just an annoyance).

Hope that helps,
