NT Crash Dump Disabled

The virtual memory is set to 268MB which is the 12MB over the
physical as Microsoft recommends. The 268MB is a combination of 128MB
and 140MB for our logical C: and E: drives respectively. We increased
the physical memory in this server to 256MB a few months ago, never
made any setting changes, and never had a problem.

MS support says there is the possiblity NT encountered an unhandled
exception which is configured in the Startup/Shutdown tab of the
System Control Panel.(Article ID: Q216491) Also MS says if the file
appears to be set up correctly, I should delete the current settings
and create a new page file.(Article ID: Q242077)

I think I'm going to try a new page file tomorrow morning...any ideas?

We have Vantage 3 patch 32 running on an NT 4.0 SP4 server. This
error was received in the Event Viewer the last time we rebooted:
*****************************************
Event ID: 43
Source: Disk
Type: Error
Catagory: None
Description:
Crash dump is disabled! NT failed to initialize the boot partition
paging file for crashdump. This may be because the system has more
than 3.8GB of physical memory.

The system has 256MB RAM and we have not changed any memory settings.
Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated if anyone has
experienced this before or knows the fix for it.

Erik,

When you open the control panel and go to System and choose the Performance
tab. What does it say your Virtual Memory size is?

Dunno... but this web site:

http://www.jsiinc.com/reghack.htm

Has a really great searchable archive of NT questions & answers, tips,
etc. Highly Recommended for anyone that has to muddle through NT !
