What do all you kind folks do for manufactured parts that are still active for service, but not for production? For planning it is nice to know when parts are in service vs production.
I could add a custom field, but wanted to see if there was an out of box option.
That being said we have narrowed down our choices to either adding a new Product Group or adding a Custom Checkbox.
We created a user code type = Lifecycle and added our different cycles there. Then added a drop down list field in Part Entry to show the part lifecycle.
if you mean the standard meaning of part lifecycle, then you need to consider an updating process for such value, as it changes with time, also your criteria for determining part lifecycle status could reply on external DB which make it even difficult to decide
