Digest Number 849

There is a way. Just because the job is "make to stock" does not
necessarily mean that is has to go into stock. As long as their last
operation is not marked as putting items into stock automatically, the items
will not go to stock unless they put them there through "Manufacturing
Receipts. A part number does not have to be in part master to create a job.

We also had this same problem. I created a sales order and enter a new line
item each time we need to make a job for a non existing part (such as
internal equipment, racks, development jobs, etc.) This seems to work.

Any alternatives?

no longer can do that. We need to make a part stock if we wish to create a
job for it w/out an associated order. The logic of 3.0 gave us more
flexibility. Any suggestions?
